The Best Beaches in Lincoln City, Oregon

Lincoln City runs for seven miles along the central Oregon coast, and thanks to Oregon's 1967 Beach Bill, every inch of that shoreline is public land — free to walk, explore, and enjoy. For easy access and plenty of room, head to the D River State Recreation Site, smack in the middle of town where the short D River meets the sea. There's a big parking lot right off Highway 101, restrooms, and a wide, flat beach that's perfect for kite-flying — it's also the home of Lincoln City's famous Summer and Fall Kite Festivals. It's the most convenient beach in town and a great default when you just want sand underfoot quickly.

For something quieter and more dramatic, drive to the north end and the Roads End State Recreation Site. At low tide you can walk north toward the headland and explore tide pools full of sea stars and anemones, and even reach a hidden 'secret' cove when the tide cooperates (always check a tide table first and keep an eye on the water so you don't get cut off). It's a favorite for beachcombing and a noticeably calmer scene than the central beaches.

At the south end, the shoreline softens into Siletz Bay, where the surf gives way to calmer water, driftwood, and a sandbar where harbor seals often haul out to rest. The nearby Olivia Beach and Taft neighborhoods offer gentle, walkable sand that's great for young kids and sunset strolls.
